Last summer I did a daily themed schedule for my kids for one week and they loved it! I don’t know about your kids, but mine seem to operate better when they have a general idea of what to expect for the day. This themed schedule helped give a focus to a portion of each day and gave them a heads up of what was going to be happening. Plus it helped me have a plan so we could make the most of our summer. This year I’m planning to utilize this themed schedule for most weeks when my kids don’t have camps scheduled, and thought it would be helpful to share with you all!
So check out the details below of my Kids Daily Summer Schedule and there’s a graphic to save at the bottom to use as a guide and starting point. These are meant to be helpful tools and not a stressor, so keep it as simple as you would like or feel free to go all out! We usually designate a certain time of the day we are going to do these themed activities and then have free play time or other options for the rest of the day.
Make It Monday: Make a craft, paint or do an art activity. We did paint by sticker, my kids love these books! But do any craft, have drawing time or coloring, doesn’t have to be elaborate.
Travel Tuesday: Venture somewhere outside the house, whether that’s to the playground, library or even just to their favorite store to browse!
Water Wednesday: Visit the pool, have a water balloon fight, turn on the sprinkler or go to the splash pad.
Thinking Thursday: Do a learning or STEM activity, build with magna-tiles, do a science experiment, have them come up with fun design for their ideal house or a draw an idea for their own theme park ride.
Foodie Friday: Bake a fun treat or visit a new or favorite place to eat for lunch or grab a fun snack (could also do Free Friday or Fun Friday and let the kids choose what you do that day)
