How to find your Word of the Year

Word of the Year

You may have heard of people having a word of the year instead of “resolutions,” but wonder what that means exactly. Basically it’s just a word to associate with what you are going to focus on for the year in regards to areas that you want to work on. I’m going to share my word of the year below and what that means for me, but here are some tips on how to find your Word of the year. First, take some time to pray about it and ask the Lord to guide you on what should be your focus for the year. Then, Take some time to reflect on all that happened the previous year and some areas that you would want to improve. Once you’ve done that, take a look at what those areas all seem to have in common and usually a common theme will emerge.

So here’s My word for 2025: Enjoy! To enjoy and find gratitude and beauty in all the moments, no matter how amazing or challenging the situations may be.

I want to thrive and not just survive and be present, balancing my time well between all the things that demand my attention. To slow down and take time for what really matters. And to let go and trust that God will work it all out, even if I can’t see it yet…and to be fully obedient to what He calls me to. I also have a few verses that I’m going to continually focus and reflect on this year as well.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” Ephesians 3:20 NIV

“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” Isaiah‬ ‭58‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬
